Authorised IB Programmes
International School Carinthia is an authorized school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme and is now a fully-authorized, ‚Continuum‘ IB World School.

Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The PYP is a pedagogical framework and curriculum for learning during the primary or elementary phase of education. At ISC, students will experience the PYP in grades 1-5. The learning objectives of the ISC PYP will come from the Volkschule curriculum in grades 1-4 and the Neue Mittelschule curriculum in grade 5. To internationalize the curriculum, ISC will also supplement the Austrian curriculum with PYP learning objectives. As a rite of passage at the end of the PYP, grade 5 students will work on a long-term project and present it to the community in their PYP Exhibition.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The MYP is designed for students aged 11 to 16. It provides a framework of learning that encourages students to becomevcreative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement-essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders. The MYP is flexible enough to accommodate most national or local curriculum requirements. It builds upon the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and prepares students to meet the academic challenges of the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

Diploma Programme (DP)
ISC offers two pathways to graduation: Diploma Programme (DP) and High School Diploma.
In grades 11-12, International School Carinthia will introduce and implement the IB Diploma Programme (DP). ISC is proud to announce the launch of our High School Diploma! Starting from the 2020-2021 school year, International School Carinthia will offer an additional, parallel program to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the form of a High School Diploma. The International School Carinthia High School Diploma will be recognized worldwide.

Religious Studies
& Education
Religion has always been and will always be a driving force in the world. Therefore our students will be encouraged to learn about their traditional religions as well as global religious traditions. Christian values will be a cornerstone of ISC’s character education program with the ultimate goal that students will also gain respect and tolerance for other religions, belief systems and traditions. ISC will be open to all students regardless of faith, religion or non-religious background.
Language
Programmes
ISC uses the WIDA model to measure students’ developing English abilities. This assessment consists of English language proficiency tests appropriate each grade. It measures listening, speaking, reading and writing skills individually and also provides an overall English score. It is designed for students who learn English as an additional language to their native or mother tongue(s).

Curriculum
Trips
Throughout our academic program at International School Carinthia, students will receive guidance in terms of their long-term goals and aspirations. ISC plans to link the academic curriculum to local and regional strengths in terms of business, industry, tourism and the great outdoors. ISC will also develop strong partnerships with corporate, industrial, technological, service-oriented, non-profit, and higher education sectors to expose students to as many different fields as possible to help them determine their post-graduate plans. As we grow, a guidance counseling program will be developed to work with students in groups and individually to chart their life paths.
Vocational Development
Programme (VDP)
In MYP 3 to MYP 5, students will have an opportunity to inquire deeply into their interests, strengths, and skills so that they can determine what direction they will take in their future. As part of the program, students will take several assessments to learn more about themselves, develop a CV / resume, learn how to write an application letter, and practice interviewing skills. They will then be given the opportunity to apply to companies or organizations for a 3-day practicum and be excused from school on these days for this purpose.
